Children and adolescents with cancer have to be absent from their school for up to several years because of their illness. During this period, school attendance is provided through hospital education and home education. Consultation by the hospital school in collaboration with the hospital rehabilitation counselor is of paramount importance for the pupils’ home schools. In addition to the traditional methods of consultation (school visits/phone calls/school visits), easily accessible and up-to-date materials are needed. The authors hope that this guide will provide teachers, parents, and other interested parties in pupils’ home schools with a convenient source of information and assistance on specific issues related to the disease, treatment and schooling of pupils with cancer.
