Parents and teachers should be aware of potential educational problems that may be related to cancer treatment so that children and adolescents at risk can be watched and helped if necessary.

The brain is a very complex structure that continues to grow and develop throughout childhood and adolescence, some problems may remain hidden for years after therapy has been completed.

If any type of problem is identified, special accommodations or services may be requested to help maximize the student’s potential, beginning with the development of a special education plan with the school.
