Accepting that one of your students has been diagnosed with cancer is not easy. Undoubtedly, it is a complex experience in which feelings like fear, uncertainty and anguish and a lot of questions may arise. What is going to happen? What to say? How to help the sick child? How to prepare your classmates for this situation? How to communicate with the other parents?

These and many other questions may arise at this time, questions for which you do not have a clear answer now but, despite the doubts, the solutions will appear.

To help you find answers to some of these questions we have prepared this guide. In it you will find suggestions for dealing with this situation from your work as a teacher. But don’t forget that each child is unique and will have his or her own characteristics. There are no master recipes or solutions that are always valid.
