SIOPE AYA Committee - Course on Caring for AYA with Cancer
September 29, 2023

SIOPE AYA Committee - Course on Caring for AYA with Cancer

Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) with cancer represent a group among cancer patients with special needs and challenges. The challenges are complex and comprise different aspects from diagnosis (e.g. delay in diagnosis), through treatment (e.g., place of care, treatment protocol, inclusion in clinical trials), to long-term follow-up care and include also psychological, social and financial issues. Taking these aspects into account is crucial to improve care of this vulnerable population. This course aims to make you aware of these aspects and show you how to deal with them.

Focus group on 05 July 2023 - Identification of Gaps in Educational and Career Support Programmes from the Survivors' Perspective

How do I find a job that is suitable for me after my disease? What career opportunities do I have despite the disease? What kind of support do I need with regard to my professional training? These and other questions will be addressed in a focus group - consisting of all those who have had cancer in their childhood or youth and who want to share their own experiences, concerns and opinions. From the survivor's point of view, needs and gaps in care should be clarified and based on this, support should be improved on a continuous basis.
