We are excited to announce our third Webinar!
It will take place on September 26th, 17:00 to 18:30 pm
We are going to address Mental Health and Psychosocial Care for CAYA Cancer Survivors in bright detail.
Description of What To Expect
Our speakers from different European countries will provide important insight into the topics of Hope and Fear as well as Grief and Depression.
Cancer in childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood can carry a number of risk factors for mental health. The disease itself, the nature of treatment, side and late effects – all of these can affect mental health and thus overall participation in life.
In this webinar, we will provide an overview of potential disease or treatment-related stressors on the social and psychological dimension (e.g., regarding education/employment, financial issues, chronic sorrow…) and also discuss the potential psycho-social burden due to physical late-effects (e.g., due to pain, endocrinological problems).
In this webinar, we will not only report facts and figures.
We want to address, more importantly, what adequate, healthy processing strategies might look like and at what point processing strategies are no longer healthy, and mental health is therefore at risk. For example, we will discuss the balancing act between hope and fear and the fine line between grief and depression.
Equally important, we will also talk about the psycho-social support options, what psycho-social care should be offered according to international standards, and where gaps in care still exist.
Another key topic will be communication about mental health. The presentation What (not) to say to CAYA Cancer Survivors about Mental Health? and the following panel discussion will provide insight on how to communicate sensitively with CAYA Cancer Survivors.
Therefore, the webinar is intended for anyone involved with the topic: survivors, their families and friends, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested.
We are very much looking forward to your participation!
