As part of the EU Mission on Cancer, the conference “Addressing the Needs of Young Cancer Survivors” aims to put a face on the quality of life for survivors of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood cancer, creating a safe space where they will be offered the possibility to share their experiences.
Under the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme 2021-2027, five EU missions have been launched to bring concrete solutions to some of our greatest challenges, including one on cancer.
The overarching goal of the EU Mission on Cancer is to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 through prevention, cure and for those affected by cancer including their families, to live longer and better. To achieve its ambitious goals, the EU Mission on Cancer is working hand in hand with another EU initiative, the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
Too many young people affected by cancer are still facing the negative impact on their physical and mental health as well as education and employment opportunities in the long-term. This event, a first of its kind, will help further shape initiatives around cancer survivorship and youth. By offering the opportunity for young cancer survivors from all Member States to interact with each other, as well as stakeholders and representatives from EU institutions, the conference intends to raise their voices and empower them to shape the R&I agenda.
Further information on the programme and registration will be provided in early 2023.
